Angelina Jolie has shared details of her upcoming movie Maleficent.

The In the Land of Blood and Honey director will star as evil queen Maleficent in the recreation of the Disney film Sleeping Beauty with the story focusing on the villain.

"It's not anti-princess, but it's the first time they're looking at this epic woman," Jolie told Entertainment Weekly.

The actress added: "I hope in the end you see a woman who is capable of being many things, and just because she protects herself and is aggressive, it doesn't mean she can't have other [warmer] qualities. You have to figure out the puzzle of what she is."

Despite the villainous portrayal of Maleficent in Sleeping Beauty, Jolie said that "there will be something that's good for young girls" in the new movie.

Jolie also offered a glimpse into what audiences can expect from Maleficent's signature costume.

"We're still figuring out the look," she shared. "We're experimenting with different things. But the horns are the horns - you can't deny them. You have to have horns."

《玛琳菲森》剧本由曾与波顿合作过《爱丽丝梦游仙境》的琳达·沃尔夫顿创作，而导演人选曾在几经波折后最终确定为罗伯特·斯托姆伯格，他曾担任《阿凡达》、《爱丽丝梦游仙境》的艺术指导，并负责过《2012》、《加勒比海盗：世界的尽头》等片的视效，《玛琳菲森》将是他的导演处女作，其颠覆《睡美人》的功力也将在影片上映后见分晓。
