1. asleep

asleep的意思是睡着的，也可以形容（胳膊或腿长时间处于一种姿势而）发麻的，麻木的。

比如：

Her left leg was asleep from sitting on the floor.
她的左腿在地板上坐得麻木了。

switches可以表示 （铁路的）道岔，如果你在铁路上睡着了，这可是一个非常大的疏忽。

go the extra mile的意思是做比期望的多得多的努力；

have one's nose to the grindstone grindstone表示磨石，把鼻子放在磨石上意思是很认真在工作学习，类似于have one's head down。

或者是形容词industrious，表示勤奋勤劳的：

She's extremely competent and industrious.
