Hello everyone, welcome to Kenting---a nice beach town in southern Taiwan.


This place has year-round sunny, tropical weather, azure seawater, and beautiful sandy beaches. It is a good place to practice water sports, enjoy beautiful scenery and taste local night market food.


Now I am on Kenting Street -- the main road in Kenting. At night it becomes a night market and is always crowded with people.

Many stores and venders sell souvenirs, accessories and various kinds of traditional Taiwan snacks such as mien mien ice, prawn crackers and my favorite food --- handmade Mashu. It is a rice cake made of glutinous rice pounded into a paste, molded into a sphere shape and wrapped in peanut powder.


There are also a lot of fresh tropical fruits such as coconuts and plenty of fresh seafood.


Besides, there are some restaurants along the road offering Chinese, Thai, Italian, Korean and European food to satisfy visitors from all over the world.

If you want to practice some water sports the next day, after dinner, you can go to the shops along the road to buy some equipment such as a surfboard, a wakeboard, or reasonably priced clothes. For example, a white T-shirt and colorful beach shorts - favorites with tourists - only cost ￥70 (US$10).


Besides being an ideal place for a vacation, Kenting is also a popular destination for foreign beach lovers to settle down. Foreigners are accustomed to life here and some of them do business on Kenting Street now. I came across a Peruvian selling accessories on Kenting Street.

"I am from Peru. I am traveling around the world for 15 years. I have been to many many many countries. About 23 countries. And I decide to stay in Kenting because it is a beautiful place in Taiwan. Everyday's sunny day. The weather is beautiful. The hot and really pure air. That is why I stop and be in Kenting and I live here right now."

At last, I would like to give you a tip: get everything you need before you leave Kenting Street since this is the only commercial area in town and most shops are only open at night.
