Organizers abandoned efforts to stage the second run of the women's Olympic giant slalom on Wednesday. The cited fog on the slope and deteriorating conditions along the course.

Safety and visibility have been two of the driving factors regarding the schedule of events on the mountain. Some coaches say re-scheduling the second leg to Thursday seems to be the most likely scenario for the race jury.

The first run was held in falling snow and gloomy conditions.  Austrian Elisabeth Goergl leads France's Taina Barioz by 0.02 seconds going into the second.
