看3D电影要注意保护眼睛,并非所有人的眼睛都适合看3D电影:有基础眼病的患者最好不要观看,弱视患者甚至与3D无缘。
Football fans in the UK say it's like being in the middle of all the pitch-side action throughout the game.
Next-generation television sets enhanced with stereoscopic capability are among the most highly-anticipated products for the future, and electronics companies are fighting to win their share of 3D-ready television sales.
The UK Film Council says there are now 400 3D screens in Britain, and there will soon be many more. 3D is transforming entertainment in every way.
However, 4 percent of the UK's population suffers from amblyopia, known commonly as lazy eye.
Vice President of The Royal College of Opthalmologists Larry Benjamin says thousands of people aren't even aware that they have poor eyesight, and these people aren't likely to get the full impact of 3D.
"There are large numbers of people whoes sight is not perfect without correction, and they may not get the full effect of the three dimensional viewing if they don't correct their vision, so it is important if you are short, or long sighted, or have astigmatism, which is just a change in the shape of the eye which may cause blurring of the vision, to have that corrected properly before you get the full effect of the three dimensions."
Lazy eye is something quite different. Benjamin says people who have this won't be able to see 3D at all.
"The fact that the eyes are separated by 15 degrees or so, that is what gives rise to the three dimensional vision because each eye is seeing an object from a slightly different position. Sometimes children are born with either an inability to use the eyes together, or for some reason cannot and therefore one eye will point forwards and the other will point inwards, and if that happens, in order to stop seeing double vision, the brain will switch one eye off."
Thankfully, most of us see our lives in three dimensions every day without any untoward affects.
That's good news for the film and television industry, with 3D movies coming at us with ever increasing speed.
