Starring - Sir Francis Drake
On December 13, 1577, Sir Francis Drake [-----1-----] aboard his ship, The Golden Hind, from Plymouth, England, with a [-----2-----] of 5, for a voyage around the world. Only 3 of the 5 ships made it through the straits of Magellan below the southern horn of Argentina.
During the trip north, along the west coast of South America, one companion ship, The Marigold, foundered with [-----3-----] aboard. Another, The Elizabeth, returned home. Drake continued the alone, docking in England after 13 years.
Queen Elizabeth knighted Drake on deck, as the first British man to circumnavigate the globe. He had crossed the Pacific from what is now San Francisco to Java and later [-----4-----] the Cape of Good Hope. Drake died 15 years later, sailing the West Indies.
