Scene 1 Chandler要搬出去，账单怎么办？
要点：in charge of 负责，主管
cover 庇护
Chandler: I’m gonna be moving out, so you’re gonna be in charge of paying the rent.
钱德勒：我要搬过去了，所以你得开始交房租了。
Joey: Right. When is that due?
乔伊：好的。什么时候交呢？
Chandler:The first of the month.
钱德勒：当月1号。
Joey:And that’s every month?
乔伊：每个月都要交吗？
Chandler:No, just the month you want to live here. Ok, here’s the phone bill.
钱德勒：不是，你住在这的月份才要交。好了，这个是电话费的单子。
Joey: Oh, my God!
乔伊：我的天哪！
Chandler: That’s our phone number.
钱德勒：那是我们的电话号码。（Joey尴尬地笑）
Chandler: I know I kind of this me-moving-out-on-you thing. So why don’t I just cover you for a while?
钱德勒：是我突然决定要搬走的。不如我先帮你挡一阵子吧？
Joey:No, no, no way. Joey Tribbiani does not take charity …anymore.
乔伊：不行，绝不可能。乔伊·特里比亚尼再也不接受施舍了
。
Notes： charge of: 负责，总管，例：
She is in charge of our school.
她是我们学校的负责人。
若要让宾语变成主语，我们则可以变换下短语，成为in the charge of(由……负责，掌管，看护），例：
The school is in the charge of Sarah.
萨拉掌管整个学校。
同样表示“掌管，主管”的短语中有一个很生动：behind the wheel(在驾驶，掌管），例：
In this company, Tom is just the manager, Ray is actually the one who is behind the wheel.
在这个公司，汤姆只是个经理，雷才是真正掌事的人。
2. cover既可以做名词又可以做动词，它的意思特别多。在这里表示“庇护”。Chandler实在放心不下他的朋友大男孩Joey，主动提出要为对方多承担一阵子生活费用。比起pay for, afford, “cover”这个词真的挺温暖。
cover up (for) 盖住，遮住，掩盖，掩饰，包庇，例：
He tried hard to cover up for his friend but in vain.
他努力为朋友掩饰，结果还是徒劳。
Scene 2 “你打包了没？”
要点：be packed 打包
be lousy at doing something 非常不擅长做某事
help out 帮助……解决困难，摆脱困境
Monica: You’re packed, though, right? Please tell me you’re packed.
莫妮卡：不过你都打包好了吧？拜托你说是!
Rachel: Of course I’m packed. Monica, relax.
瑞秋：我当然打包好了。莫妮卡，放松。
但事实上Rachel一点儿都没打包，整个房间乱七八糟的。Monica走了进来，被眼前的景象惊呆了。
Monica:You’re not packed. You’re not packed even a little bit.
莫妮卡：你没打包！一点儿都没！
Rachel:Surprise! Don’t be mad. Because this is what happened. I started packing, then I realised that “What am I doing?”. I’m lousy at packing, right? But you love packing. So it’s a gift
to you for our last night.
瑞秋：惊喜！别生气。事情是这样的。我打包的时候突然想到：我在干嘛？我根本不会打包，对不对？但是你特别喜欢打包。所以我决定把它送给你当做临别礼物。
Well,这个惊喜可是正中下怀，Monica的整理欲和控制欲顿时被激发出来，毫无疑问，所有人都跑不掉，都得帮忙，因为Monica是指挥官。Rachel,你咋这么急智？
Monica：Phoebe, go to tell the guys they have to help out.
莫妮卡：菲比，去让那些家伙来帮忙。
Notes：
既可以做名词又可以做动词，在这里是是动词，表示“包装，打包”。关于整理行李，如果说得太正式，就没有口语的乐趣了，所以用be packed再好不过。这里的“You’re packed.”可不是说Rachel被打包，而是Rachel的行李被打包。是不是既简单生动又实用？
In fact, I think I’m good at packing and already packed for the coming travel.
事实上，我觉得自己很擅长打包，而且已经为即将到来的旅行打包好了行李。
2. be lousy at doing something 最不擅长做某事，例：
She is really lousy at tiding up.
她特别不擅长整理。
3. help out 帮助……解决困难，摆脱困境，例：
what exactly can I do to help out these children?
我到底要怎么做才能帮这些孩子脱离困境？
Scene 3：“我能照顾好自己！”
要点：get it out of your head 摆脱……想法，放下……念头
Look! Chandler, you gotta get it out of your head that I can’t take care of myself, Ok? Look! I’m not gonna miss you helping me out with money. The only thing I’m gonna miss is you.
嘿，钱德勒，你必须放下我照顾不了自己这个念头，好吗？我不会想念你给我钱帮我脱困，我只会想念你。
Notes: get it out of your head 摆脱……想法，放下……念头，例：
Be confident and persistent. Get it out of your head that you may fail the examination.
你要自信，要坚持，别再想你可能会通不过考试啦。
