He had no idea how much time passed by, though he did recall hearing commotion outside: water running in the shower, the rotation of washing machine, the beep of the dryer indicating the end of the drying cycle, and just general shuffling around – no doubt it was his housemate doing some housecleaning on the weekend, Saturday... or was it Sunday already... probably still Saturday. It did not matter, though, with all the pages of notes around him, all Wolfe knew was that he was so close to getting it done, he could almost taste it.
