Wang Winning the First Gold in Women's 500 Meters

 

 

                           

TURIN, Italy -- The limelight fell on the women’s 500m, competed at a very high technical level. Wang Meng has one Winter Olympics gold medal -- China's first at Turin -- and with three races to go here, won't rest on her success.

 

"I haven't turned off the power. It was challenging. It was very close at the end. " Wang said after winning the 500-meter short track final.

The 20-year-old Wang is skating in her first Olympics and won all four World Cup races in the 500 this season.

Wang and Fu grabbed a Chinese flag and headed off for a victory lap.
