The first images of Melissa Benoist in her "Supergirl" costume have been revealed and they look downright heroic. The show seems to be sticking close to the comic book version of Supergirl's costume, but with the darker color palette seen in "Man of Steel" and the upcoming "Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice."

On CBS' "Supergirl," Benoist plays Kara Danvers, a Kryptonian cousin to Clark Kent/Superman who escaped to Earth as a child. Though she's been hiding her powers all her life, she's now embracing them under the Supergirl moniker for the good of humanity.
