大学同学在做人力资源的培训项目,问我要不要见见在学界拥有世界声誉的
Williom J. Rothwell教授。我说好,不知者无畏,抱着学习的态度嘛,我在浦东香格里拉的套房里和他见了面。

白天他已经上了8个小时的课,还是显得十分精神。做了人力资源的研究这么久,每谈到一个问题,他就滔滔不绝,倒是我有些困倦,从上午忙到晚上,一直在说英语,对我来说,说英语不知不觉就说累了。更何况,我要不可避免地同他谈到专业问题。

还好,人力资源并没有我想得那么枯燥,况且在一个长者的面前,我总是很放松。

我们谈到美国人力资源的现状,中美两国人力资源体系的对比,还有常规的人力资源问题。虽说是专业的内容,但还是我的能力理解范围内的学科,毕竟不是什么高精尖的技术问题。

Brief CV

William J. Rothwell , Ph.D., is Professor of Human Resource Development on the University Park campus of The Pennsylvania State University. He oversees a graduate program to prepare students for careers in Human Resource Development. Before arriving at Penn State, he was an Assistant Vice President and Management Development Director for The Franklin Life Insurance Company and, before that, Training Director for Illinois Office of Auditor General.

Rothwell has consulted widely on succession planning and management. In 2001, he was National Thought Leader for a Best Practices study of succession that examined 18 multinational corporations. In his work with succession, Rothwell has consulted with businesses, government agencies at the federal, state, and local levels, nonprofit organizations, and international organizations.
