With the rapid development of the modern business society, advertisements have filled in every corner of our life by various platforms, such as Internet, magazines and Television. Now advertisements have become the main source of information for us. They give a full play of products and bring tremendous power of persuasion and attraction to customers. But any successful advertisement always consists of verbal and non-verbal aspects like colour, sound, picture, stars and so on. Slogan, as an essential part of the advertisement, plays a very important role of recognizing the products, increasing the notability and setting up the brand image. The advertisement slogan is not just a combination of simple words , and it is one kind of language that utilizes various language skills. Now let's take a look at these following famous slogans:

Actually, my favorite slogan has appeared among above pictures. I do love the slogan of Mercedes- Benz very much. Personally I am not a person who has a great passion for famous cars because I cannot afford them for the moment. But this slogan really has something to do with one of my interviewing experiences. During the job-hunting process, I have got an interview chance of a Mercedes-Benz retail outlet in Nanjing by chance. I was very excited but also very worried because I had no idea of auto industry. The content of the interview was very easy, which required me to make an English-Chinese translation of a report about this brand. It was then that I knew this slogan and was deeply attracted by it. As for me, it was a little challenging to translate this slogan even though it contained only 4 words. At that time, I translated it into "没有更好，只有最好". I searched the Internet for its official Chinese edition which was "唯有最好", and it was totally a perfect interpretation of this brand spirit. It is very honorable for an enterprise to set up such a high goal. Also, I've regarded this slogan as my life credo from then on. Everyone wants to be the best, but the key to realize it is that whether you can stick it out. Your willpower will decide if you get the best or nothing in return. Therefore, before starting something, please set a goal at the beginning and hold a version of what you want to the last.

Most of the commercials in Chinese mainland are as tedious and boring as their brainwashing educational text books. As a man who grew up under the red flag, I and my family were quite familiar and used to the commercials which make you doze. But sometimes, the boredom of the commercials is beyond your imagination. Here is one case: I cannot recall the exact year of the broadcasting. At that time, the Group of Hengyuanxiang(恒源祥) presented its masterpiece of brainwashing. This dreary commercial definitely tried and pushed the audience to their limit of tolerance. All the lines of the notorious commercial were Hengyuanxiang, sheep, sheep, sheep; then repeated again and again. This commercial had no innovation idea, however it did impress the audience a lot. I am so glad that my late grandpa wasn’t there to watch this disgusting commercial because he had a hot temper. I must confess that, when all the TV channels broadcasted this king of shit, it is very difficult to restrict yourself to crash the TV set.
