A man convicted of causing a blast in Beijing Capital International Airport has been jailed for six years. The verdict was announced by the Beijing Chaoyang District People's Court on Tuesday, nearly a month after the hearing.

Ji Zhongxing, appeared in court on a stretcher at the trail in September. In a statement, he expressed regret for what he did.

Ji, a wheelchair-bound man from east China’s Shandong Province, set off a home-made explosive device outside the airport’s Terminal 3 arrivals exit on July the 20th. He was seriously injured in the blast with his left hand ripped off. A police officer at the scene also suffered minor injuries.
