China again dominated The Asia's 500 Most Influential Brands 2013 list with 204 brands, according to the latest rankings released by the World Brand Lab (WBL) Saturday.

Chinese enterprises accounted for 40.8 percent of the list, enabling China to hold on to its top position, which it also took in 2012, in terms of number of brands, followed by Japan with 164 brands and South Korea with 45 brands. The list covers a total of 19 countries and regions.

There are 118 brands from the Chinese mainland on the list, with Industrial and Commercial Bank of China (ICBC), State Grid, China's Central Television (CCTV) and China Mobile in the top 10. The other 86 are from Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macao.

ICBC maintained its position as the second most powerful brand in Asia this year, same as in 2012, after South Korea's Samsung.

State Grid took the 5th spot followed by CCTV at 6th position, also unchanged from 2012's list. China Mobile ranked No.9 on the list, down 6 spots from 2012.

China National Petroleum Corp, China's largest oil and gas producer and supplier, dropped out of this year's top 10 after being listed as the 10th influential brand in Asia 2012.

This is the eighth time that New York-based consultancy firm WBL has issued the annual brand list, which considers the brand influence, capability to occupy the market and the profits of Asian companies. The detailed data that is weighed include market share, brand loyalty and Asian leadership.

The advantage of Made in China is receding, and it is time for the China Brand to debut, Robert Mundell, the chairman of WBL and a Nobel Laureate in Economics, was quoted as saying in a statement posted on WBL's website.
