Orphan Black star Tatiana Maslany has insisted that she is not bothered about the show's lack of Emmy recognition.

Maslany's fans campaigned for the actress to receive an Emmy nod for her performance in the BBC America series, but her name did not appear on the shortlist released in July.

"The support and the ferocious fandom that got angry about [the snub] - that's lovely," Maslany told TV Guide. "But ultimately, the awards have no bearing on it."

The 27-year-old added that, while awards are "great", actors should not put "too much of [their] worth" into events like the Emmys.

"Doctors don't get awarded [for] things the entire world knows about," she said. "It's just so warped. We put so much value on [awards] and it's so not what it's about."
