In 1939,a 9-year-old girl Liesel and her brother were forced to a foster family in the outer suburbs of Munich. Her 6-year-old brother died in the road. After the cold funeral, Liesel got her first book  by accident. She is a lonely child.Her father was a communist who was taken away by Nazi and her mother went missing later. With her adoptive father's help, she learned to read. Despite the hardship, she found a more compelling thing than food -- book. She could not help to steal the book. Liesel, this poor girl who is called "the book thief" , lived hard in the war-torn Germany, and even help the same suffering people around.
