• Students have no income
• Their parents pay for their tuition and daily expenses
• Going abroad to study is very costly
• Pinch pennies (精打细算) to lower financial burden of parents
 
②万能理由4“学生需要打工”
• Part-time job can build up students’ pocket
• Pay for their tuition and cover the cost of living
• Make young people become independent, sociable, and mature
• Have chance to get in touch with diverse mix of people
• Improve communication skills
 
③万能理由5“学生需要放松”
• Students are stressed
• Have pressure from study, for example, exams and assignments
• Studying too much results in being exhausted
• Feel frustrated if fail to do well
• Release pressure
• Need to take a break (e.g. shopping / swimming / traveling / hanging out with friends…)
黑体部分对于答题至关重要，由于放松方式不同，此模板可以套用很多题目。如：你平时喜欢做什么？答：Shopping with friends.

解题思路：如果选择cook on your own，可套用万能理由3和5。

Topic: Personally speaking, I would choose to cook on my own for the following reasons.
Reason 1: First, cooking at home saves money. As a student, I do not have income. My parents pay for my tuition and daily expenses. Eating outside every day is luxurious and costly, and I cannot afford it. So I should learn to cook on my own and save money to lower the financial burden of my parents. (万能理由3“学生需要省钱”)
Reason 2: Also, cooking can be quite relaxing and release pressure from my study. I would be exhausted if I study too much. So I need to take a break and cook with my friends. In this way, I feel free and happy. (万能理由5“学生需要放松”)
 
2) 2012年06月08日 北美托福考试 口语真题
Question 1: Your friend has just received a large sum of money. What do you suggest he do with it? Please include specific details in your explanation.
解题思路：题干的意图是“如何分配这笔钱”，“钱”可以让我们在第一时间联想到“省钱”，即万能理由3。然后再套用一个理由就大功告成了，比如，有了钱可以出去游玩，放松一下。
参考答案
Topic: Personally speaking, I would give my friend two suggestions.
Reason 1: First, I think my friend needs to save enough money to pay for his tuition and daily expenses. As a student, I don’t think he has a job or income. I guess his parents might financially support him for everything. And this large sum of money can reduce the financial burden of his parents. (万能理由3“学生需要省钱”)
Reason 2: Also, the money left after paying for study and living can be spent on traveling, which could be quite relaxing and fun. Studying too much may make him feel exhausted, so he needs to take a break. (万能理由5“学生需要放松”)
