Supporters of tougher gun laws have won a key vote in the Senate. Conservatives were defeated in their attempt to block the Senate’s gun proposals from coming to the floor for a vote.
 
At least two people are dead and some three dozen others are hurt after a charter bus veered off a Texas highway and flipped onto its side. Witnesses say the bus weaved across the highway, struck a concrete barrier and toppled over into the center median.
 
The border between South and North Korea remains tense as more South Korean workers returned home from the Kaesong industrial complex, just north of the demilitarized zone. Thousands of North Korean workers have already been pulled from the complex.
 
President Barack Obama has bestowed the Medal of Honor on Captain Emil Kapaun, an Army chaplain who died in captivity during the Korean War. The president presented the prestigious medal to Kapaun’s nephew during a ceremony at the White House.
