Part 1.  Are you a dog person or a cat person? 这里使用的是名词修饰名词，意思就是do you like dog or cat? Why?
【录音Conversation】
Erin: Hey, Ann, do you have a pet?
Ann: Sure, I do. I’ve got a dog. What about you?
Erin: I’ve got two cats. Which animals do you think make the best pets, cats or dogs?
Ann: Dogs, obviously, I wouldn’t have one if I didn’t think that dogs were better than cats.
Erin: Yes, of course. But dogs are dirty and smelly and they crap and pee everywhere. Cats are clean and always smell nice. I hate to scoop the poo every day.
Ann: That’s true and it’s not that pleasant. But dogs are much more fun, you can play with them and train them to do tricks.
Erin: You’re right. I just don’t like the fact that dogs demand a lot of time and energy. Cats are independent and I like that. I don’t want to have an animal that follows me everywhere I go.
Ann: I don’t agree. It’s great to have a companion. They say that dog is man’s best friend and it’s true. They’re loyal, never take offence, accept you for who you are. Not like humans. He is even more sympathetic than the girlfriend.

Part 2.  A commitment and a responsibility
What kind of commitment or responsibility the owner has towards them?
1. take care of them
They are like babies. You need to take care of them. Some get a dog or cat and are all excited about it. But later, when the novelty wears off, they just leave it locked up in the apartment all day. If the owner doesn’t have a regular life, neither does the dog.
2. keep them under control
It’s really annoying when dog owners are inconsiderate and don’t understand that it’s really their responsibility to make sure their dog is under control.
Sometimes the dog is really big, it’s huge. And the owner doesn’t keep it on a leash. Then of course, the dog would run wild, they are running and barking at you. It’s horrible.
Some are even the carrier of rabies.
Some owners are lame too. Although they walk the dog, they never pick up the poo of their dog’s. step on dog poo
 
So once you are determined to keep a dog or cat, remember that they’re not just your toy, they deserve your genuine care and you shouldn’t take them lightly.

Part 3.  Story-sharing
Now let’s get back to the reason why I chose this topic. In fact, I’m not a pet person. I don’t like cat or dog. I think that’s because of my mum. She used to be allergic to cat and she thought dogs were smelly. Anyway, I never had a pet. Later on, my mum started running a bookstore and there were mice, so she had to keep a cat 小黑，and then my mum found another cat 小黄 so that they won’t feel lonely. 两只小猫打打闹闹，亲亲我我的过得特别好。连我妈都对猫毛不过敏啦。小黑he is brave and adventurous. xiaohuang she is shy but naught too. she always follows xiaohei everywhere. Usually she dare not cross the street. But one day, actually it was the last day of the year 2011, she did. And she got killed by a car. It’s really tragic and inspired me to have this class. But don’t get me wrong, as long as you can handle that, I think the benefits of having a pet would outweigh the sorrow of you know losing them.

Buy the dog, regular life. give it to a security guard.
