Warner Bros is reportedly considering delaying or recutting the upcoming crime drama Gangster Squad.

Ryan Gosling, Sean Penn and Emma Stone star in the film, about LAPD officers taking on the Mafia in 1940s Los Angeles.

Studio execs recently pulled a trailer for the film - which features a scene of gangsters shooting through a movie screen into an audience - that plays ahead of The Dark Knight Rises.

In light of the recent Colorado shooting during a midnight screening of The Dark Knight Rises, bosses are now assessing what to do with the gun-heavy Gangster Squad.

The LA Times reports that the movie shooting sequence in the film may be cut entirely or its September 7 release pushed back.

A test screening of the film scheduled for later this month may also be postponed. Out of further respect to victims of the shooting, Warner Bros has also decided against releasing box office estimates for the weekend.
