I hope that Viola Davis is making tons of room in her house somewhere for the amount of Oscars and other fancy awards she’ll be collecting after this film comes out. Fresh off her award seasons wins for her portrayal of Aibileen Clark in “The Help”, Variety is reporting that Davis is setting her sights to bring a Barbara Jordan biopic to the big screen.

Jordan was the booming voice of the nation’s conscience during the Watergate hearings, and an African-American pioneer in politics and other areas.

Based on the biographical book “Barbara Jordan: American Hero,” by Mary Beth Rogers, writer/director Paris Qualles is adapting the book for a pic that traces Jordan’s rise from a poor Houston neighborhood to an elected member of Congress and an influential figure in liberal politics.

“In a world of movies about giants and Martians and toys come to life, if you can actually get involved with a movie about a human who single-handedly changed American politics, you say ‘yes,’?” Barclay told Variety. “We’re hoping this becomes a movie that shows the world everything that Viola can do. People haven’t seen everything that she’s capable of, and this role is so powerful.”

Davis, who is currently filming “Ender’s Game”, is hoping to produce the biopic e with her husband, Julius Tennon.

该片根据玛丽·贝丝·罗杰斯（Mary Beth Rogers）所著传记《芭芭拉·乔丹：美国的英雄》（Barbara Jordan: American Hero）改编，由帕里斯·巴克利（Paris Barclay）执导。

维奥拉·戴维斯在《帮助》之后演艺事业得到了迅速发展，她的下两部影片是《安德的游戏》（Ender’s Game）和《美丽生灵》（Beautiful Creatures）。
