There's good news from the White House. President Obama says the U.S. economy is starting to rebound. A new report says 200,000 jobs were added in December and unemployment failed to 8.5%. That's the lowest in nearly three years.

Joran van der Sloot has told the Peruvian court he needs more time. He says he's still deciding how to plead in his trial for the 2010 murder of a 21-year-old business student. The court has agreed to postpone his case until next week.

New England Patriots offensive coordinator Bill O'Brien has agreed to become Penn State's first new head football coach in nearly a half century. Two people in the NFL tell the AP O'Brien says he plans to replace fired coach Joe Paterno.

And in Australia, two men and their young sons are thankful to be alive. They were rescued after their boats sank in waters near Sydney. They survived by clinging to a cooler box while waiting for a helicopter to arrive.
