Hello I’m Don Delher, welcome to 2020 in touch.
So you never win anything, your ship never comes in. You always the bridesmaid and never the bride? Well, lucky you, this Friday I’m gonna tell you how to change your luck for the better.

Some people seem to have all the luck, always in the right place at the right time, they get all the breaks. Are they fated to be blessed by good fortune or is it blind chance? What makes a person lucky? One prominent psychologist says good luck in life is not accident.

“You are saying that someone can actually create good luck for themselves.”

“If there’s a single message from the research it’s exactly that to a very large extend you are creating a lot of your own luck.”

British psychologist Dr. Richard Wiseman of the university of Hertfordshire has studied hundreds of lucky and unlucky people for over a decade.

“It is very important to make this distinction between luck and chance. Some sorts of accidents and illnesses are purely chances and we really can't control them at all. But then is a very large percentage of events, well, we would say, oh, that was very lucky, you know, went to a party, bumped into this person, changed my life. And we imagine that those events are outside our control. In fact lots of those events very much are to do the way in which we think, the way in which we behave.”

“How luck am I!”

The lucky Wiseman says are optimistic and resilient.

“It’s a hard business and it is a daily rejection. But, you know, I get up the next day and I keep going.”

Rachel Reenstra have been struggling in Hollywood for over 10 years.
Doing commercials. “This is chicken.”
Doing stand-up comedy. “I'd happy to say, oh, he has affected me, oh…”
Taking big parts on sit-coms. “Oh, hi, you're the Mike.”
Informal shows. “Incredible music.”
But there was no luck break. Then Rachel did what Dr. Wiseman says lucky people do. She didn't give up. She persevered even visualized her ideal career path..

“10 years ago, I realize what I really wanna to do was to host a show while travel the world.”

“So you are imaged something that didn't exist yet.”

“Yeah, I created an ideal scene for myself. I’m traveling the world. I’m enjoying getting paid a lot of money hosting a show. I’m seeing amazing animals.”

Lucky people listen to their instincts.

“Lucky people have this weird way of sort of knowing where they what to end up, but not really being certain how they going to get that.”

“I know what was gonna be. I didn’t how it was gonna happen, but I knew that's what I want.”

So Rachel took her life savings, even went into a credit card debt and started traveling the world, videotaping herself with animals. Then one day…
“How are we look?”

“My agent sent me a letter.
(Dear Rachel…)
They said Discovery is seeking its next female adventurer .
(Do you love the outdoors and animals? )
I love these animals.
(Our ideal candidate is enthusiastic about the prospect of adventure…)someone who has an optimistic attitude.
So I looked at that letter and I went...was is…this is me, and they need to know this is me.”

For all of us at 2020, I’m Don Delher. We are in touch, so you’ll be in touch.
