If anyone visits Mr. and Mrs. Thompson's home and ring the bell, he will be greeted by the loud and happy barking of their big black dog, Blitzen Ⅳ. The Ⅳ refers to the fact that she is the fourth in a string of black Labrador dogs that the couple have had over a period of over 38 years. Both Mr. Thompson and his wife are exceptionally fond of these big, friendly, gentle animals. They have loved them all but the Thompsons believe this one is extra special. When Blitzen Ⅲ died, Mr. Thompson tearfully announced that he didn't want another dog because it hurts too much when the family pet dies. However, his wife was determined that they would have another Blitzen when the time was right.
