All the same, U.S. authorities are somewhat shocked that Russian has launched a satellite several months ahead of America.Sputnik I broadcasts signals over two [-----4-----] that are picked up in the United States and Europe. Flying at an [-----5-----] of 560 miles, Sputnik clocks an air time of 1 hour and 35 minutes per global orbit.
