August 3, 1975 - Viking I sends us the first pictures from Mars

Viking I and Viking II were designed by NASA as __1__ fitted with short and long-range cameras to __2(句子)__. In August 1975, a Titan center rocket launched Viking I on its 505 million mile journey. Eleven months later, Viking I went into orbit around Mars, before the laboratory part of the craft separated and made its descent to the surface.
