Wednesday marks the first anniversary of the signing of the Economic Cooperation Framework Agreement, better known as ECFA, between the Chinese mainland and Taiwan. Taiwan authorities say the island's development, job opportunities and competitiveness have been boosted by the agreement. They point to the Early Harvest Program as an example. During the first five months of this year, exports to the Mainland of Taiwan's agriculture products listed in the program jumped more than five times. A survey by the Taiwan authorities finds that over 60% of local residents are satisfied with ECFA, and many hold a positive attitude towards cross-strait relations.
