Sometimes shopping for furniture can be too expensive for your budget. Even if you go to superstores which are known for their deep discount prices, you still may not have enough money to furnish your new place. When this happens, what should you do? Go to secondhand stores. You can look in your local telephone directory for these stores which sell previously owned furniture and other items. Although someone used these items before, they should still be in good condition to pass the store's standards and very cheap. Go to garage sales and the flea market. Garage sales are informal events hosted by a family or house that wants to get rid of its extra belongings. Oftentimes, the family wants to move somewhere new, start with their own new furniture, and thus sell away their old things. These people may also temporarily find space at a local flea market to sell their goods. You can find these events in your local community newspaper. These are some of the very few places in the U.S. where you can bargain.
