The reason for tennis' strange scoring system goes back in history. A few hundred years ago tennis was scored on a clock, so the score was 0, 15, 30, 45, like the minutes hand on a clock. This game started in France. 0 looks like an egg. Do you think so? The French word for egg is "l'eouf" Well to the English "l'eouf" sounds like "love". So when the English starting playing tennis they copied the scoring system to Love, 15, 30 and changed 45 to 40. Modern tennis then came from England and developed from the world famous Wimbledon tennis tournament, held in London every year on grass tennis courts.
