Sarika, the year's third tropical storm, has landed in southern China' Guangdong Province, the first to make landfall this year.

The storm hit Shantou city with a wind speed of 72 kilometers per hour.

The central government has dispatched 2 task forces to Guangdong and Fujian Provinces to cope with the storm.

Local weather forecasters say the storm is moving northwards and will impact the cities of Meizhou, Jieyang and Chaozhou.
