Just days after the death of Osama Bin Laden, the victims of 9/11 have been remembered. President Barack Obama laid a wreath at ground zero. Vice President Joe Biden led a similar ceremony at the Pentagon.

The record-high Mississippi River continues to rise. Thousands of people have been forced from their homes from Illinois to Louisiana. Most of the severe flooding could still be a week or two away.

A remote-controlled submarine has removed a body from the wreckage of the Air France flight that plunged into the Atlantic two years ago. French authorities say the victime was still strapped into the seat, making recovery difficult.

And more than 600 people marked the moment when the first American rocketed into space 50 years ago. the ceremony took place at the spot where Mercury astronaut Alan Shepard blasted off on a 15-minute suborbital flight on May 15th, 1961.
