The death toll is rising in New Zealand after a massive earthquake. Rescuers are scrambling to rescue anyone still alive in the rubble. The confirmed death toll from Tuesday’s quake rose to 75 and at least 300 people are still reported missing.

Chicago has its first new mayor since 1989. Voters chose the former White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel to lead America’s third largest city. Emanuel says he’s ready to take on the city’s challenges and praises the legacy about going Mayor Richard Daley Jr.

A jury has convicted an Arizona man of murder for running over his daughter. Faleh Hassan Almaleki is an Iraqi immigrant convicted in a case prosecutors called an "honor killing." They say Almaleki was angry at his daughter for becoming westernized and refusing an arranged marriage.

And a New York man was reunited with some memories. Rudy Resta had his wallet stole in more than 40 years ago, then he got a phone call. A security guard found it inside a wall in an abandoned building, perfectly preserved.
