Indemnity

n. 赔偿；补偿（金）

Indemnity（赔偿） = in-（不，非）+ -demn（损伤/伤害，词源同damage）+ ity。Indemnity来自拉丁语indemnis（未损伤的，未伤害的），引申词义为赔偿，补偿。同近义词有compensation，offset。

Indemnity常见的习惯用语有claim indemnity索赔、letter of indemnity 损害补偿保证书、insurance indemnity保险赔偿金、contract of indemnity赔偿契约、indemnity clause弥偿损失条款、principle of indemnity损失补偿原则。

损失补偿原则（principle of indemnity）是指保险事故（insurance accident）造成保险标毁损，被保险人（the insured）遭受了经济损失，保险公司（insurance company）应当承担补偿损失的责任。理赔金额（claim amount）应当协商一致，合理且充分补偿，这个原则主要是为了维护保险双方的利益，防止道德风险（moral hazard）的发生。
