Bottleneck

Bottleneck是一个英语复合名词，本义是瓶子颈部，但在商务英语里，常用“瓶颈；阻碍；妨碍进度的因素”之义，同近义词有barrier，block，chokepoint。Bottleneck常见的习惯用语有bottleneck constraints瓶颈制约/限制、bottleneck problem瓶颈问题、double bottleneck双重瓶颈、development bottleneck发展瓶颈。

企业瓶颈其实就是一种危机（crisis）。企业遭遇到发展瓶颈（development bottleneck），意味着企业在某阶段上不去下不来，长时间出现停滞（be at a standstill）或者反复波动的现象。企业苦苦探索变革之道，但事倍功半（get half the result with twice the effort），导致变革成本不断上升。

如果企业一直无法突破瓶颈（fail to break through bottleneck），最终可能会被不断变化的市场所淘汰（will be eliminated by the changing market）。
