Subscribe = sub-（下）+ -scrib-（写，词源同scribe，script）+ -e（动词词尾），即在合同下签字，引申为“签署、认购、赞成”。

Subscribe作不及物动词时，常见用法有subscribe to sth定期订阅/捐款、同意赞成，subscribe for sth申购（股份）、预订，比如subscribe to this newspaper（订阅这份报纸）、subscribed to the view赞同该观点、subscribe for shares/bonds认购股票/公债。
