Choosing an Occupation
One of the most important problems a young person faces is deciding what to do.The re are some people,of course, who from the time they are six years old "know" that they want to be doctors or pilots or fire fighters, but the majority of us do not get around to m aking a decision about an occupation or career until somebody or something forces us to f ace the problem.
Choosing an occupation takes time, and there are a lot of things you have to think abo ut as you try to decide what you would like to do.You may find that you will have to take special courses to qualify for a particular kind of work, oryou may find out that you will ne ed to get actual workexperience to gain enough knowledge to qualify for a particularjob.
Fortunately, there are a lot of people you can turn to for advice and help in making your d ecision. At most schools, there are teachers who are professionally qualified to give you de tailed information aboutjob qualifications. And you can talk over your ideas with family m embers and friends who are always ready to listen and to offer suggestions.
Advantage and Disadvantages of Being an Only Child
My father used to talk to me about his five siblings. He used to say thatIwas unfortun ate that I had none. And Iused to envy him and wonder how nice it would beto have aho useful of brothers and sisters.Ialso used to wonder what would happen to me if I were to lose my parents.Frankly speaking,I do not have to share anything with anybody.I own all my parents'love.I can ask for anything I want.I always wear new clothes and eat the best food.Since my parents spend all their money on me,I can study at the best university of t he country.
Lucky asI am,I now and then feel very lonely andI have nobody to complain about my loneliness. How Ilong fora quarrel with my brothers and sisters! Of course I have classmat es and friends, but they are different.Sometimes I feel so pessimistic that after myparents leave the world,I will have no blood relatives left to share with me the fond memories of my parents.Furthermore,I am likely to become selfish while Irealize the world is for shari
So,I am happy but lonely;Iam fortunate but piteous;Iam loved but spoiled;Iam well-bre d but selfish, because I am the only child of the family.
Love in College
As a college student, campus is our home,a warm and sunny house, you can find thev igor to live and sustain for ever. But do remember there is unusual scenery youshould pay great attention to,that is the love in the campus. When it comes to this theme, various wo rds rushed into my mind, sweet, happy, love for ever, everything sounds to be wonderful.
However, our elders always exaggerate about love in college. They believe that it is a waste of time and money. It will make students to forget their studies and eventually may even destroy their lives.
As for me,although Iam looking forward to having an excellent boy study and live wit h me,it isjust a dream actually.① We are still children,do not haveenough experience inI ove;we do not take in the spirit of truelove.② Forus it isjust a good feeling,a slight feeli ng because of well-dressed or handsome appearance, not by instinct. How about the perso nality or her habits, we do not know, wejust love because of her beauty.Love depending o n this will certainly go not so further, one day,you find you two are unable to share in the same way,you will quit, leaving tears fallen down.It turns out that love in the campus is c ommonly short and dreamful.
I think after you become matureenough, then you can use your sharp eyes to recogniz e people, find who you really suit to,then, take it seriously.③
A Letter about Environmental Problems During Official Holidays
To Whom It May Concern,
Iam writing to express my opinion about the current policy on the official holidays,su ch as Spring Festival and Golden Week Holiday. As you might know, some believe it is a go od idea to enjoy a week-long break. For one thing, it provides enough time for people to r efresh their minds and thus to have better preparations for their future work. For another, it will lead to increased tourism and in turn stimulate the development of the local econo my.
Truly, the past decade has witnessed many advantages of the official holidays, but wes hould never ignore its disadvantages. On the one hand, it may lead to heavy traffic in that a large number of tourists go on traveling during the same Period, thus, it might cause air pollution. On the other hand, some tourists, with no awareness of environmental protectio n, often drop litter at random so that the scenic spots are polluted and thus it demands a t remendous sum of money to eliminate the pollution.
Considering the current grim situation, it is necessary that the authorities concerned s hould take immediate measures to eliminate these disadvantages. Only through these effo rts can we relieve the traffic pressure and at the same time raise people's awareness of e nvironmental protection.
