番茄并不是意大利的本土产物

番茄现在是意大利菜的灵魂食材，很难想象没有番茄的意大利菜，但意大利其实本来没有番茄。

不过现在它已经无处不在了，而且意大利当地的新鲜番茄吃起来确实不同凡响。

The tomato wasn’t introduced in Italy until the 1540’s. Today it might be hard to believe that tomatoes aren’t originally from Italy, but in fact, it wasn’t until the Columbian Exchange that tomatoes found their way here. There’s something special about the sun-kissed Italian tomatoes, though.
番茄直到16世纪40年代才被引进意大利。现如今很难让人相信，番茄并非原产于意大利，实际上，直到哥伦比亚交易所问世后番茄才出现在了这里。不过这些被太阳亲吻过的意大利番茄确实吃起来不一般。
