1831. Naturalist Charles Darwin sets out an around-the-world voyage aboard the HMS Beagle. Darwin’s discoveries during the almost 5-year-long journey help form the basis of his theories on evolution and natural selection.

1932. Radio City Music Hall -- home of those high-kicking dancers known as the “Rockettes” -- opens in New York.

1904. James Barrie's play Peter Pan – the “boy who would not grow up”– opens in London, the play is adapted many times, stage and screen from Broadway to a Disney movie.
