All eyes will be on New York City tonight: a specially Times Square where thousands of people are expected to pack in and celebrate the New Year. Law enforcement says hundreds of additional officers will be on duty, trying to ensure this New Year's Eve is a safe one.

Senator Lisa Murkowski will return to Washington for another term. She was certified the winner of Alaska Senate race yesterday. State official signed the paperwork after nearly two months legal battle. Murkowski had to win a write-in campaign after losing in the Republican primary.

Thousands of people are hoping their mega million tickets will be the winning one tonight. Friday's jackpot is worth an estimated 242 million dollars. The last time there was a winner was November 9.

The longest winning streak in college basketball is over. No. 1 Connecticut lost last night at Stanford, ending a 90-game winning streak. The last time the Lady Huskies lost was to Stanford in 2008. Final score last night: 71-59.
