作为人类民主的发源地，希腊是个在政治上非常早熟的文明。

因为早熟，所以他们做了不少实验，其中当然有很失败的实验，而这给人类文明留下了很好的反面教材。

Some scholars say that the Greek civilization has been around for so long that it has had a chance to try nearly every form of government.
