When she heard the banging on her door, 82-year-old Willie Murphy knew immediately something wasn’t right.
Then the man smashed his way into her Rochester, N.Y. home.
“He picked the wrong house to break into,” she told WHAM 13 News.
她对《WHAM 13 News》说：“他闯错地方了。”
Murphy isn’t your average octogenarian.
In 2018, she won the World Natural Powerlifting Federation Upstate New York Championships, and says she can deadlift 225 pounds. She’s also appeared on ESPN and the Rachel Ray Show.
2018年她在世界自然举重联合会纽约州北部锦标赛中夺冠，她说可以硬举225磅，还上过娱乐与体育节目电视网和《Rachel Ray Show》节目。
So when she was confronted by a crook trying to rob her house at night, she wasn’t about to let herself get pushed around.
“I’m alone, I’m old, but guess what, I’m tough,” she said.
The house was dark, so she could easily hide as the crook moved into her home, she told WHAM 13 News. She had already called police, but wasn’t about to sit by and let this criminal take advantage of her.
她对《WHAM 13 News》说，当时屋里很黑，所以劫匪进入房子时她轻易地就藏起来了。她已经报警了，但也没准备坐以待毙。
“I picked up the table and I went to work on him,” she said, adding that she broke the table in the attack.
And while he was down, Murphy added, she jumped on him.
With the crook injured, she then grabbed a bottle of shampoo and poured it all over his face. Then, Murphy said, she grabbed a broom and continued to hit him.
“He’s pulling the broom,” she told the news outlet. “I’m hitting him with the broom.”
When officers and first responders arrived, they took the suspect to the hospital.
“The officers that came wanted to go on my front porch and take selfies with me,” Murphy said.
After the incident, the 82-year-old decided the man - who police say was intoxicated - had had enough and chose not to press charges.
“I really did a number on that man,” she said.
