The New Zealand Herald reports that Xiaopi the Russian Blue had been left at the Chinese pet hotel for just one night on October 1 while his owners - known only as Mr and Mrs Zhao - took a quick break.

In an angry social media post following the nocturnal romance marathon, Mr Zhao - who comes from the city of Guangzhou in Guangdong Province - said he had told staff his cat had not been neutered.

But the cattery's hapless employees did not heed the warning and let Xiaopi out of his cage before heading home for the night.

Trouble is, all the other cats were let out as well - which is where Xiaopi's amorous epic began.

"I thought they'd be professional, but the staff member didn't feed him during the day, and let him out to roam freely at night," Mr Zaho posted.

"That's right - all the cats were free to walk around the shop, and then the employee went home."

When Mr Zhao returned to the cattery the next day, the full extent of the carnal carnage was revealed on CCTV.
