I really like the accounting professor in my university. He is a lovely old gentleman, and he would dress up like Dumbledore from Harry Potter to the classroom. We really enjoyed taking his lectures.

What kinds of teacher do you like?

I like teachers who are friendly and approachable. Luckily I’ve had many teachers like that. There are many teachers in my university who are very informative and humorous, and it’s easy to communicate with them.

Can you describe your high school teacher?

There’s one high school teacher that impressed me a lot, which is my math teacher, as I was really bad at math, consequently he didn’t really notice my existence. He even still got my name wrong after three years of teaching. That was hilarious.

What's the difference between young and old teacher?

Young teachers are more energetic and passionate, and can better understand and interact with students, while old teachers are more experienced and knowledgeable. They often take the lead in scientific research.

Part 2 & 3

Part 2

Describe a method that helps you save money.

You should say:

what it is

when you started to use it

how you knew it

and explain why it is useful

Speaking of a method that can save money, I would recommend an application called MyMoney. It is an app that can record your spending. I’ve been using it for almost a year. And it was my friend who recommended this app to me. He used to be a person who spent a fortune but had no idea where the money went. But ever since he started to use this app, everything was in control. I didn’t believe that at the first place, but still decided to give it a go. And surprisingly I found this app very multifunctional and useful. It will categorize your money into different groups, including bank statements, savings, investments and so on. And it will generate a detailed report for you to have a clear understanding about your asset. It’s almost like a mini personal bank. By using this app, I started to have a sense of financial management, I think it helps me a lot.

give it a go 惯用表达;试一试

EgIf you haven't tried using it yet, you should really give it a go.

EgExperience within a developing country in the national or regional implementation of cultural programmes would be an asset.

Part 3题目

1. Which group of people tends to spend more money in your country, young people or elder people?

I’m afraid it’s elder people who spend more money in my country. And this doesn’t mean that they are extravagant, they will spend their lifetime fortune on housing property, and usually they buy the house for their children. The price of housing property in big cities in China is soaring high. So in this case I think old people spend more money than young people.

2. Is that necessary for schools to run classes about financial management?

It depends. Schools can run several classes about practical skills for students to choose. Financial management is of course a very important lesson, but not everyone is interested in it. So it is better to have other options like accounting or musical instrument. So that students can find out what they are really into and what they are really good at.

EgHer hands trembled slightly as she reached for the instrument.

3. Why do people tend to use their money for investment?

The ultimate purpose is to make more money. Good and smart investments can generate more return. For example, many people nowadays put their money into real estate market. They will buy as many houses as possible and wait for the price going up. They can either sell their houses at a much higher price to make a profit or lend it to others to have uninterrupted rental income.

You should spend 20 minutes on this task.

The chart below shows the rate of males and females who were overweight in Australia from 1980 to 2010.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

Write at least 150 words.

The bar chart gives information about the percentage of overweight men and women in Australia over 30 years from 1980 to 2010.

Overall, it is clear that this three-decade period witnessed a noticeable increase in overweight rate of both men and women in Australia, and the obese men clearly outnumbered their female counterparts.

During two decades from 1980 to 2000, the ratio of overweight males experienced an unbalanced increase from 47% to 70%. By the year of 1990, the overweight ratio had risen at a slower pace to just over 50%, while from then on, it rocketed to 70% in 2000. In the meantime, the overweight figures of the female saw a similar trend, rising gradually from 30% in 1980 to 50% in 2000.

  1. 2000 to 2010, the percentage of overweight men witnessed an opposite trend, with a slight decrease of 3%, while the overweight rate in the female remained stable at approximately 50% during this decade.

Word count: 158

①rate: n. 比率

②outnumber: vt.

③counterpart: n.

④ratio: n. 比率(=rate

⑤rocket: vi.

⑥see a similar trend: 呈现相似的趋势

A类大作文:

题目:An increasing number of people are changing careers during their working life. What do you think are the reasons of this? Is it a positive a negative development?

The world nowadays has never seen a more frequent job change among young people than ever before, and this phenomenon tends to accelerate. In my opinion, such a trend is attributed to diverse factors internally and externally, and the merits prevail over the disadvantages.

There are many reasons for employees to try out different jobs, such as the relatively static payment in the same post, the company’s declining idea of promotion from the within, and people’s desire for a change. As far as I am concerned, all of these factors can be related to the fast-paced development of our society. New companies and corporations are popping up every day, providing loads of opportunities to the talented, and also posing threat to the traditional industries which are slow to react. Therefore, it is not strange to see so many people shifting between jobs, especially those who are more willing to accept anything innovative.

Yet quite a number of people express their worries on this trend. Employers are not likely to recruit someone with too many job-hopping experiences, and changing career means one has to start over from nothing, both of which could be destructive to the future development of an individual. However, we should bear in mind that gone are the days when we could support ourselves with expertise in only one field. To keep up with the rapidly changing world, companies nowadays needs versatile personnel to bring up creative ideas and demonstrate competitiveness in frontiers. Thus, with more experience in different jobs, one is more likely to explicate his ability to acquire new information, as well as the willingness to embrace the unknown challenges. These features exactly match the companies’ requirements to keep up with the progress on a global scale.

In conclusion, the burgeoning development of the world causes people frequently changing their jobs and manifests the results in various forms. I believe the high staff turnover has more advantages, as long as the employees have the qualities that well fit the job vacancies.

phenomenon: n. 现象

static: adj. 静态的

promotion from the within 内部晋升

expertise: n.

versatile: adj.

burgeoning: adj.
