On September 17th, 1978 - Camp David Agreements reached.

A visit to Jerusalem by Egyptian President Anwar Sadat in 1977 opened the door to unprecedented peace talks between Egypt and Israel. Sadat and Israeli Prime Minister Menachem Begin reach their first accords at Camp David on September 17th, 1978, with intensive mediation from President Jimmy Carter. Six months later a peace treaty was signed at the White House, ending 30 years of hostilities between Egypt and Israel. (Sadat in a speech) –“There will be no more war or bloodshed between Arabs and Israeli. There will be no more suffering or denial of rights.” Stumbling blocks remained and the Arab League severed all ties with Egypt, but Camp David was a triumphant expression of peace.
