September 6th, 1972 - 1972 Munich Games.

Violence rocked the Olympic Games in Munich, Germany when Black September guerrillas, a Palestinian terrorist group, attacked a compound holding Israeli Olympic team members. In the early morning struggle, nine Israelis including wrestler Mark Slavin were kidnapped. Two others were shot, including wrestling trainer, Moshe Weinberg. One night later, on September 6, 1972, a bloodbath concluded the drama. The terrorists, demanding the release of 200 prisoners, were conveyed to an airport, where German sharpshooters opened fire. All 9 Israelis died, as did 5 Palestinians, and 3 others were captured. Israeli jets bombed Palestinian guerrilla bases as the surviving team members flew home with their dead.
