across和cross这两个词都是表示“横越”、“渡过”之意，在拼写上仅差一个字母，所以很容易混淆。它们的区别在于词性和使用场合有所不同。across是介词，而cross是动词。

因为crossroad是基督教的用语，指“十字架的道路”，不是十字路口。《十字架的道路》表示基督徒在信奉基督时要愿意为宗教牺牲，对信徒而言，这是一条很难走的道路。
