The suspect in a string of stabbings that span three states is awaiting extradition in Georgia. Elias Abuelazam was arrested in Atlanta before a flight to Israel. He is suspected in a string of attacks against 18 people, all but four in the Flint, Michigan, area.

President Barack Obama is signing a bill today to put more agents and equipment along the Mexican border. The Senate passed the $600 million measure during a special session Thursday. The border security measure would fund the hiring of 1000 new Border Patrol agents and more Customs and Immigration officers.

Gay couples in California are counting the days until they can get married again. A judge ruled that same-sex couples can get married starting next Wednesday unless an appeals court overturns him. Opponents of gay marriage have already filed an appeal.

More flooding misery in China---new landslides in China’s remote northwest. The downpours are making rescue work nearly impossible in a flood-ravaged region where more than 1,100 people have been killed.
