We've opened up markets all over the world. In one artisan community we've seen jobs and sales triple. But creating jobs and opportunities is just half the story. Our students are taking the insights gained from that immersion and translating them into products that help people's lives.
Social design products developed by the Notre Dame and Nepal program include an umbilical cord cutter that requires sterilization for reuse thereby minimizing birth-related deaths as well as a three dollar washing machine that preserves clean water sources and improves the quality of life for women.
Coming here has given me more sense of purpose and now I'll try to work out my design beyond the actual physical appearance of it and try to think of some way it can impact somebody else.
Our work is based on the belief that one design can transform an industry,a village,a life.
The University of Notre Dame asks,"What would you fight for?"
Fighting to create opportunities.
We are "The Fighting Irish"
