Cargo planes with humanitarian aid have arrived in the Uzbek town of Andizhan for tens of thousands Uzbek refugees who fled violence in neighboring Kyrgyzstan.
The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees had organized the shipment. Two planes from the United Arab Emirates with tents, blankets and sheets landed at Andizhan airport.
The Uzbek government has also agreed to UN offers of support for this humanitarian crisis.
Representatives from the UN have already arrived in Kyrgyzstan, to hold talks with the interim government, to find ways of defusing the tense situation。
Miroslav Jenca, UN Special Envoy, said, "I think it is very important to start working on national reconciliation. We should work with all sides. What is also very important is we should work to increase the social-economic development in the south of the country. We should also work on the reconciliation of national minorities because the conflict was sparked due to certain tensions that existed in the country."
