A 100-ton containment box is close to being in place over a blown-out well that’s been spewing oil on the Gulf of Mexico. The containment vessel is designed to collect as much as 85% of the oil and funnel it up to a tanker. This type of operation has never been tried at this depth.

Britain’s recent election hasn’t settled who will be in power. Prime Minister Gordon Brown has signaled his Labour Party would attempt to form a coalition with the Liberal Democrats. But the leader of that party hasn’t decided if his party will make any deals.

All eyes will be on Wall Street this morning after a wild day of trading Thursday. The Dow dropped almost 1,000 points before rallying back to close down more than 300 points. There are reports that the sudden drop was because a trader mistyped amount of stock he was intending to sell.

Lawrence Taylor’s attorney says his client will be proven innocent. Taylor has been charged with third-degree rape in an alleged assault on a 16-year-old runaway. The former New York Giants was arrested Thursday. Police say Taylor paid the girl $300.
